Softboards, wetsuits, and qualified instruction are provided at Geraldton Back Beach by experienced surf coaches with safety as the priority. Midwest Surf School is affiliated with Surfing Australia and works with schools, community groups, and visitors to the region. Keith Roffman (Director).
What You Will Find Here
Whether it is your first time standing on a board or you want to sharpen your technique, sessions are matched to your ability and the conditions on the day. Group classes, private coaching, school holiday programs, and nudie SurfGroms for children aged 5 to 12 are all available through our Lessons & Programs page.
Lessons run year round at Geraldton Back Beach, with equipment supplied for each session. Book online through FareHarbor or call 0419 988 756 if you have questions before you arrive.

TEENS, ADULTS, BACKPACKERS
Join a class already in progress. Great value, meet new people, and share the stoke on the water. Once-off sessions, three-lesson series, school holiday blocks, and term programs are available.
KIDS & FAMILIES
Choose nudie SurfGroms for 5 to 12 year olds, or family-friendly group classes with once-off, three-lesson, school holiday, and term options. It is a great way to share time in the ocean and build a skill that lasts.
GROUPS
Midwest Surf School draws on decades of physical education teaching and surf coaching to run private bookings, community events, and school group sessions tailored to your group size and goals.
My fiance and I took a private lesson with Keith at Midwest Surf School and we had an absolutely wonderful time. He walked us through the basics and got us into the water as quickly as possible.
If you are deciding between a group and private lesson, I would recommend the private session. You get more waves and more time to build confidence with direct feedback from the coach.
