Geraldton Beaches
GERALDTON BEACHES North and South of the Lighthouse
GOING NORTH OF THE LIGHTHOUSE (usually protected from the seabreeze):
Pt. Moore: Great to watch Kitesurfering and wind surfing. Experienced surfers may like to paddle out to Hells Gates Reef (10min). Not great for swimming.
Pages Beach: Flat, very clean water for swimming.
Broadwater Beach (opposite Police Station): Flat. Has a platform that is safe to dive off and swim.
Marina Beach (opp. Hungary Jacks) Flat: Good for swimming. Nice park area.
St. George’s Beach: Flat, nice park, some reef.
Sunset Beach (Triton Place “Shories”): In bigger swells can produce alright waves to surf.
Sunset to Glenfields: Numerous isolated beaches with many spots to surf. Glenfields is less isolated with better waves to surf.
Drummonds Point: Experienced Surfers only. Heavy barreling wave on shallow reef.
GOING SOUTH OF THE LIGHTHOUSE (usually affected by the seabreeze)
Separation Pt: Great for snorkeling.
Back Beach: Most popular beach in Geraldton for swimming and surfing- Wave size varies with the swell. Be cautious of Rips and strong North current. Usually lifeguard patrolled on summer weekends (swim between the red/yellow flags).
Tarcoola Beach: Less waves than backbeach. Excellent park across the road.
Southgates: Take a sandboard and zoom down the massive dunes.
Greenough: Sightly protected from the seabreeze and can get some good surf waves when the sandbanks are right.
South of Greenough: 4wd along the beach through to s-bend and you may be suprised
Flat Rocks/Headbutts: A long drive but worth it if you are a keen surfer. Need 4wd for Headbutts
