BEACHES, SAFETY AND TIPS IN GERALDTON
- Be sun smart. Wear sunscreen, a hat and cover up. Drink water.
- Always swim with another person.
- Choose a beach that is suitable to your skill level (See Below).
- If you see someone in trouble in the water, get help quickly. Don’t swim out unless you are confident that you will not get into trouble. Always take a floatation device with you.
- If you are in trouble in the water (e.g. caught in a Rip):
- Stay calm.
- Float on your back.
- Wave one arm for help.
- Read and follow the beach signs.
- On Patrolled beaches:
- Speak and listen to the lifeguards.
- Always swim between the flags.
- KEEP YOUR SURFBOARD OUT OF THE FLAGS!
